THE NEW ADVENTURES OF THE HUMAN FLY debuts next month at SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY: the debut of THE NEW ADVENTURES OF THE HUMAN FLY at SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON. This is the first issue of the hot new series I am editing and contributing to.

Our cover for issue #1 will be drawn by the Maestro himself, Rafael Navarro, with lettering by Janice Chiang and a logo and corner illustration by Steven Butler. It's going to be black, red and yellow. Navarro also illustrates our lead story inside. But we've also got the talents of Steve Kriozere, Jason Baroody, Tony Babinski, Javier Hernandez, Jim Rugg, Paul Mason, and UNKNOWN SOLDIER artist Gerry Talaoc.

Not to mention (but that means we will mention...) ORIGINAL Human Fly artists Steve Leialoha, Bob Layton, Don Perlin, and Al Milgrom.

It's going to be a terrific tribute to the Marvel Comics version; what Bill Mantlo, Lee Elias and the two Franks - Frank Robbins and Frank Springer - achieved. We grew up loving that book and you'll feel the mirth and spirit of that original book reading it.

It's going to be a wild ride! So join us in sunny Sandy Eggo!

Never before published drawings made by THE DOORS' JIM MORRISON at age 14

Some drawings Jim Morrison made at the age of 14 during the two years he lived in Alameda, CA, back when he was high on MAD Magazine and Don Martin cartoons. These doodles were saved and exhibited by Fud Ford, Morrison's high school pal, in 1981, but they've never been published.

Can the SANTA MONICA CIVIC AUDITORIUM be saved? And the WELTON BECKET effect...

My ARGONAUT cover story for tomorrow's paper:

CAN THE SANTA MONICA CIVIC AUDITORIUM - designed by Welton Becket and where THE DOORS, THE CLASH, THE STONES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PRINCE, JONI MITCHELL, THE EAGLES, BOB DYLAN, ERIC CLAPTON and KISS all played -- BE SAVED FROM DEMOLITION?

The SaveOurCivicAuditorium.org champions of Welton Becket's SANTA MONICA CIVIC AUDITORIUM.

Also: my sidebar for the cover story in tomorrow's ARGONAUT about BRUCE BECKET, architect son of iconic L.A. architect WELTON BECKET, who created the Capitol Records building, Cinerama Dome, Pan Pacific Auditorium, LA Music Center, and who designed Century City (as seen in CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES!!)
